CoughAssist helps clearing the airway for better breathing. It gradually applies positive air pressure (insufflation) to obtain a large volume of air within the lungs. The device then quickly reverses the flow of air by shifting to negative air pressure (exsufflation). The resulting high expiratory flow helps mobilize secretions out of the airway as a deep, natural cough would do.

CoughAssist is a safe, noninvasive alternative to suctioning. It is safe for both adults and kids. It can be used with a mouthpiece, a mask or with an adapter to a tracheostomy tube. Masks can be purchased separately based on size requirement. Masks size varies for Adults, Kids and Infants.

The CoughAssist machine has been proven effective for patients with an insufficient ability to cough due to:

  • Poliomyelitis
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Spinal Muscular Atrophy
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
  • Myasthenia Gravis
  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Or any other neurological disorder with paralysis of the respiratory muscles, such as a spinal cord injury
